It’s now almost 10 years ago that I was looking for a place where I could participate, be challenged, learn from other business sectors, have true freedom of speech and, above all, this had to be in a friendly atmosphere, where the idea of meeting each other was a pleasure. I confess I didn’t think I’d find it until the day when a member of ADRA extolled the virtues of the association to me and sponsored me to join. I did indeed find what I was looking for! Over the past 10 years, thanks to the commitment of some members, ADRA has grown, both in numbers and maturity, and we all work to stick close together in the face of OUR problems. Today I always find some information and advice which enables me to grow and to improve my own organization, not to mention the fantastic camaraderie which makes ADRA a truly special, beneficial place.

A little over 13 years ago I contributed to the formation of ADRA and in all that time my enthusiasm for this adventure has never been misplaced. I participated in every development and got involved in transforming our association. I discovered approaches to the Purchasing role which were completely new. I discussed my ideas with some remarkable people. Throughout the years I have enjoyed participating in ADRA Thursdays, which are the cornerstones of our structure. I have made friends and I still enjoy getting involved.

ADRA is a unique place for mutual exchanges on the subject of purchasing. It isn’t a club to which you are invited; it’s a true association in which you are welcomed by purchasing professionals. It allows us to confront our problems as purchasing directors for which we often have to take sole responsibility within our organizations. Through its network and the commitment of its members, it offers a level of exchange and collaboration which I haven’t found anywhere else. Within ADRA the word association has real significance. We are not spectators but protagonists in this structure and each one of us makes a contribution to the development of the whole. These are all reasons why I wanted to belong to ADRA and am involved today.

After 15 years in retail Purchasing, I decided to quit the world of large-scale distribution. At that time, in 2008, it seemed essential to me to completely review my professional network and to meet new people in the Purchasing world. A friend told me about ADRA and it sounded like the ideal answer to give me new insight into the profession. Once I joined ADRA I quickly found my feet among friendly and welcoming people, who were happy to share their experiences. The variety of sectors represented and the quality of human relationships undoubtedly form the basis of ADRA’s rich environment

It was a purchasing director colleague who, in 2010, introduced me and had me coopted to ADRA. Regular attendance at ADRA’s Thursday meetings enabled me to get to know the members and exchange views regularly with them. At each meeting I learn something of interest, which I am able to put into practice in my job as purchasing director. The camaraderie and sincerity which exist between us allow us to go beyond the conventional and examine subjects in depth. I really like the atmosphere of openness and trust which exists between us and I am very committed to contributing to maintain and develop this.
